COMEDEK UGET 2026 counselling begins: See how to register, seat allotment method- full process explained

Students who cleared the COMEDK UGET 2026 exam and received their rank cards on May 29 can now move to the admission stage, as the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has started the counselling registration process for engineering and architecture courses. Candidates who want to take part in counselling must first register online and complete document verification. Only students whose documents are approved by COMEDK will be allowed to participate in choice filling and seat allotment rounds.More than 150 participating colleges across Karnataka will admit students through the centralised online counselling process.

How to register for COMEDK UGET 2026 counselling

Students can complete the process through the official COMEDK portal.

  • Log in to COMEDK portal using the same credentials used during exam application.
  • Click on the “Counselling Registration” tab
  • Pay the non-refundable counselling registration fee of Rs 2,000
  • Open “Document Upload” section and upload all required documents

Once the status changes to “Document Approved”, candidates become eligible for the next stage. They will be able to participate in choice filling, select preferred colleges and courses and take part in mock allotment The mock allotment helps students understand their probable seat based on current preferences before the final Round 1 allotment.

COMEDK UGET 2026: Seat allotment choices explained

After a seat is allotted, students must choose one of the following options:

  • Accept & Freeze: Keep the allotted seat and exit further rounds.
  • Accept & Upgrade: Keep the seat but remain eligible for a better option in later rounds.
  • Reject & Upgrade: Reject the current seat and wait for a better allotment.
  • Reject & Withdraw: Exit the counselling process completely.

Candidates who do not make any decision after seat allotment will be treated as having chosen Reject & Withdraw and will not be considered for further rounds.The counselling process will be conducted through multiple rounds, including Round 1, Round 2 for KKR candidates, Round 3 and Round 4.
