Cockroach Janta Party’s founder Abhijeet Dipke on late Tuesday updated about climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s health condition while posting on X saying he has lost 2 kilograms.The update comes as the hunger strike enters Day 4, with supporters expressing concern over his deteriorating health.In a post on X, Dipke wrote, “Good morning from Jantar Mantar. Day 4. Medical update of @Wangchuk66: Sonam sir has lost 2 kg since the start of his hunger strike. His blood pressure has been consistently falling.”Despite the physical strain, Wangchuk has continued his protest, drawing supporters, activists and citizens to Jantar Mantar.

Why is Sonam Wangchuk on hunger strike?

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk began an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar on Sunday, in support of CJP’s protest demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in examinations.Hundreds of protesters, mostly students and young people, gathered at Jantar Mantar on Sunday as Sonam Wangchuk began his indefinite hunger strike. Several farmer leaders also joined the demonstration, which commenced with a two-minute silence.What is CJP’s protest?The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) launched its protest at Jantar Mantar on June 20, demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged examination irregularities.During the protest, Abhijeet Dipke alleged that the controversy extended beyond a single examination and reflected deeper concerns about transparency, accountability and public trust in the education system.The agitation has drawn support from students, farmers and members of civil society, who have joined the demonstrations at Jantar Mantar.
