BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla’s mother ‘deliberately’ run over by car in Pune, to undergo surgery | India News
NEW DELHI: BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Tuesday alleged that his mother was deliberately run over by a car in Pune, leaving her seriously injured, and said the accused fled the scene after the incident.In a post on X, Poonawalla said his mother would undergo surgery and appealed for prayers, while urging the Pune police to arrest the accused and ensure he does not escape accountability.“A few hours ago, an extremely disgusting human being ran his car over my mother deliberately, leaving her seriously injured and ran away. She will be undergoing surgery very soon. Kindly pray for her. My mother is one of the kindest & nicest human beings, and for her to be subjected to this at this age makes my blood boil, and my heart sink. Hope Pune police city will arrest that person & will ensure he doesn’t get away with it,” Poonawalla posted on X. He reiterated the allegation and tagged senior police officials and political leaders, including Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and the chief minister’s Office.Responding on the post CM’s office said that Fadnavis expressed remorse over the incident and spoke to Poonawalla. He also asked authorities to take necessary steps. “This is very unfortunate. CM Devendra Fadnavis has given necessary instructions to senior police officials of State and Pune. CM also spoke to Shehzad Poonawalla in detail and wished her a speedy recovery,’ CM’s office wrote in the post.
