Union Budget 2026: FM Sitharaman to interact with college students post budget presentation
NEW DELHI: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will interact with around 30 college students from across the country after presenting the Union Budget 2026–27 on Sunday, the ministry said.Sitharaman is set to present her record ninth Budget, including two interim budgets, on February 1. As part of the initiative, the students will witness the live Budget presentation from the Lok Sabha Gallery, giving them an opportunity to observe one of Parliament’s most important annual proceedings.The students, drawn from different states, represent a wide range of academic backgrounds, including commerce, economics, medical education and vocational courses.They will also visit the Ministry of Finance at Kartavya Bhawan-1, where they will interact with senior officials to understand the ministry’s functioning, the policy-making process and the role of institutions in nation-building.Later in the evening, Sitharaman will hold an informal interaction with the students, discussing key Budget priorities, its vision for India’s future and its impact on the youth. The students will share their ideas, perspectives and aspirations, and offer their views on issues concerning young people and the nation.The initiative aims to increase awareness among students about finance, economics, governance and democratic processes, while encouraging informed and constructive youth participation in India’s financial and parliamentary systems. The ministry added that inputs from citizens, including youth, gathered during the Budget preparation process will be reflected in the Union Budget 2026–27.(With PTI inputs)
