As part of the MBA 63rd Batch Orientation Programme, the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta welcomed Mr Pranav Adani, Managing Director, Adani Enterprises, as Guest of Honour. The session was held on campus with participation from students, faculty members and institutional representatives.He addressed students on execution, ownership and resilience in a dynamic business environment, urging them to focus on responsible leadership, continuous improvement and converting opportunities into meaningful outcomes during his interaction at the institute.Mr Adani shared insights from his leadership journey, highlighting execution discipline, ownership and resilience as key factors in navigating complex business environments and organisational growth.

He emphasised execution-led decision making in organisations, noting that speed of implementation and accountability remain central to leadership effectiveness. He also encouraged students to develop resilience in uncertain environments and take ownership of outcomes in team settings.

AALP scholarships and campus mobility initiative

Under the Adani Accelerated Leadership Programme (AALP), six MBA students of IIM Calcutta will continue to receive fully funded scholarships each academic cycle. The initiative also includes provision of 200 bicycles for students to support intra-campus mobility and improve access across campus facilities. The scholarships under AALP are aimed at supporting meritorious students pursuing the MBA programme, covering full academic fees for selected candidates each year. The bicycle initiative is intended for use within the campus premises, facilitating movement between academic blocks, hostels and administrative areas, particularly for first year students adjusting to campus life.

Institutional participation and MoU signing

The session was attended by Prof Vivek Rajvanshi, Dean Development and External Relations, and Prof Partha Priya Datta, Chairperson MBA Programme. A token memorandum of understanding was signed between Prof Alok Kumar Rai, Director, IIM Calcutta, and Adani Enterprises, reaffirming continued institutional collaboration. The MoU signing reflects ongoing engagement between the institute and Adani Enterprises in areas of academic collaboration and student development initiatives. The agreement is expected to support continued interaction through leadership programmes, knowledge exchange and institutional engagement activities aligned with MBA training objectives.The orientation programme for the MBA 63rd Batch included structured interaction sessions between students and invited speakers, focusing on leadership exposure and institutional familiarity. The announcements regarding scholarships and campus mobility were made during the same visit, alongside faculty participation and administrative coordination at IIM Calcutta campus. It formed part of the induction activities designed to familiarise students with academic expectations, institutional values and available support systems within the programme structure held at IIM Calcutta on campus premises during orientation programme.
